THE AUTODROMO HERMANOS RODRIGUEZ IS REOPENED AND THE TRACK HAS BEEN PROCLAIMED READY TO WELCOME THE  FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015® 

After the 15-month remodeling, Miguel Angel Mancera, Mexico City Mayor, Francisco Maas Peña, Deputy Minister of Quality and Regulation of the Tourism Ministry of the Republic Administration, Alejandro Soberon CEO and Executive President of Corporacion Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE) along with former drivers and current ambassadors of the renewed Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Emerson Fittipaldi and Hector Alonso Rebaque together with Sergio Perez, Force India squad driver and Joe Ramirez Formula 1 former engineer, have reopened the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez facilities that will receive the 10 squads that will contend next October 30,31 and November 1 at the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez remodeling was guided by 19 Mexican companies and the German, Tilke, which was in charge of the track renovation, supervised by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) now is ready for the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®. Over one thousands of Mexican workers collaborated in the renovation with an 8-hour working day in order to finish all on schedule.

Adjustments made to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will allow its original use as a facility for massive concerts, athletic track and a public park, among others. A new nursery with the latest technology was built, a control tower to monitor the race, a media center with a capacity for 500 journalists from around the world, a pit building with 33 boxes ready to receive the squads, grandstands extension and a new silver stand for the Racetrack to reach a capacity of about 110 thousands of fans, a new track layout adjusted to receive any race scheme.

The new track layout is 4,305.88 meters and has a total of 7 left and 10 right turns, a 1,314 meter straight. For its renovation its original architecture elements were combined with longer straights and sharp turns to allow overtakes with a more modern concept and design comparable to the best world’s top category tracks. For its construction over 18 thousand of cubic meters of asphalt made with local elements such as sand, gravel and obsidian were used.

In order to guarantee drivers and fans safety they used over 2 thousand meters of Tech Pro, the latest technology in material used to absorb the impact of cars, replacing tires originally used. Also, the track includes a series of sensors all over the pit area to receive all car information during the race and transmit it to the different squads departments all around the world in real time.

Among the new features of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track we will find:

–       The  Nigel Mansell curve, named after the driver crowned as winner on the last Grand Prix of Mexico celebrated 23 years ago. This curve, the number 17 of the circuit, placed at the exit of the Foro Sol South, is one of the places that kept the DNA of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, is one of the most emblematic and historic sections, where tense and exciting moments were lived and some of the best performances of the Formula 1 drivers were exhibited.

–       The 1,314 meters straight that goes out to the Nigel Mansell curve, just at the zone where the Main Grand Stand and the pit one are placed is where cars reach speeds over the 328 Km/h turning the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track in the second fastest track of the entire serial, just behind the Monza’s.

–       The entrance to the Foro Sol, where drivers will receive a privileged view of the scale of spectators that will be enjoying the Gran Premio de Mexico.

During the reopening the Mexican former engineer, Joe Ramirez, was announced as the fourth ambassador for the renewed Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015® return.

“I feel so honored to be one of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez ambassador and being part of the historic return of the Grand Prix to our country, without a doubt all fans who visit us and squads from around the world, will be amazed with what Mexico and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez has to offer.” Ramirez said.

“After 23 years, Mexico and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez are now ready to receive the best drivers and fans from around the world to enjoy the top category of motor sports. At the same time we have sought that the over 110 thousands of fans that Race Track will hold live closer the race and have and unique experience.”  Alejandro Soberon, CEO and CIE Executive President pointed.

“The race that will take place in Mexico in a few months will be legendary, none of the drivers racing currently have had the opportunity to compete in the Mexican circuit, for it will be exciting to watch them testing their skills and trying their best moves, on a practically new and unexplored track.”  Emerson Fittippaldi, ambassador of the renewed Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez said.
