INFINITI RED BULL RACING AND DANIEL RICCIARDO WARMING UP AT MEXICO CITY’ S ZOCALO FOR THE FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®.

Five months before the expected return of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015®, Infiniti Red Bull Racing will bring a demonstration race on Saturday, June 27th in the Mexico City’s Zocalo. The confirmed drivers are the Australian Daniel Ricciardo and the Spanish Carlos Sainz.

Mexico City (June 15, 2015) –After a 23-year abscence, the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015® returns to the legendary racing track Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in November. In order to warm up for this huge event, Infiniti Red Bull Racing will bring drivers Daniel Ricciardo y Carlos Sainz, on June 27 at the Mexico City’s Zocalo, for a demonstration race with the RB7 FORMULA 1® race car.

For the first time, the RB7 will cover the route around the most historical and famous square in the country. Officially known as “La Plaza de la Constitucion” , this square exhibits not only the Cathedral, but also the ruins of the great Aztec City, Tenochtitlan, called Templo Mayor, just one block away.

The city of Mexico will be able to witness  for free, the three-time winner Daniel Ricciardo, from the Infiniti Red Bull Racing team and the team Scuderia Toro Rosso’s star of the moment, Carlos Sainz.  Both drivers will show their skills around the 57,600 m2 perimeter of the square. The high performance hybrid model, Infiniti Q50, will be also present to give some demonstration laps, as well as the Renault Clio R.S. 200 EDC, a car that reinforces the sporty style of Renault Sport Technologies.

“I can’t wait for this special journey to Mexico”, said Daniel. “The demonstration race in the center of the city is going to be amazing. It will be the first time the team visits Mexico and I think we are ready to give a great show. The Zocalo looks huge, so I think I can give some laps with the car”, added. “Mexico City is enormous and I know that Mexican people are really into FORMULA 1®, so I feel anxious to see how many people we can gather that day”: 

Carlos Sainz said: “I’m excited to go to Mexico. I have no memories of it, but my parents told me I’ve been there before when I was one or two years old. Mexico City is a very interesting place to visit but what I do know, is that it is a really special place for driving a FORMULA 1® car on those streets. It is a way for the people to see how FORMULA 1® is like, before FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015 ® returns. I will try to give my best possible show for the audience. So come and see”.

Meanwhile, the Mexico City Sports Institute’s Director, and link between the Mexico City’s Government and the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE MEXICO 2015® , Horacio de la Vega, states: “The Infiniti Red Bull Racing is, definitely the result from the coordinated work with the Mexico City’s Government, which is looking for the FORMULA 1® warming up.
